I'll tumble 4 ya blogfest

Click here to find out all about it

So, this blogfest asks: who was your 80s crush? Click the link under the logo to find out about it and/or scroll down to the bottom of this post to join in. Or you could just leave a comment below and tell just me... I won't tell anyone else, honest!

To be honest, there were a few pin ups on my bedroom wall in the 80s. Johnny Depp (who would be still there, if I wasn't married - can't see Hubby wanting to wake up to Mr Depp every morning), River Phoenix, that guy from Curiosity Killed the Cat.

But my major, all-encompassing and absolute crush was...

the incredible and very beautiful Morten Harket

For the purposes of this blogfest, I'm supposed to justify why, but - really - do I have to? Look at him. He's gorgeous. His hair, his eyes, his voice  his tasteful selection of scarves. I thought he was perfect then, and I still do now.

I'm not allowed to embed the video I wanted to, but it's here: The Sun Always Shines on TV. This was the very first time I'd seen a-ha - they were on Top of the Pops,  and the next day at school everyone was talking about them.

Sadly, Wham! became more popular amongst my friends, but I was loyal until the end. I'd forgotten how beautiful their videos were - a true band, probably a bit overlooked, and one of the best things to come out of the 80s.

Here's Hunting High and Low, and Stay On These Roads, just because I want to.

I think this has been my favourite post EVER!!

So, now, who was your 80s crush?

Here's the Linky to all the other participants. Please go and check them out.

  1. Oh, he is pretty. No justifying necessary. Yes, Mr. Depp is still nice eye candy.

Thanks so much for letting us in on your 80s crush and for posting these links. :)

  8. Nice choice. Mine was Ricky Schroder from the show Silver Spoons. Yes, he was kid, but so was I back then:)

  11. Oh, I didn't recognize him at first, but I loved A-Ha! Who can forget the Take On Me video? I so wanted to be the girl in that. :) Great choice!

  12. Annalisa, I kid you not. I have been listening to random '80s songs as they come up on the sidebar on YouTube and I opened up your post listening to 'Take On Me.' Synchronicity, baby!

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's too funny - I'd probably still have Johnny Depp on my bedroom wall if I weren't married, also!

    1. It's nice to see some of the actors of the 80s have real staying power and they didn't all self-combust.

  14. Ah, the beautiful Morton. If I hadn't been so loyal to Mr Geldof I might have considered fancying him myself!

    1. Loyalty is important. When I first read about this blogfest, I knew who I'd be choosing!

  15. This blog bounce is so much fun and really bringing me down memory lane! One of my best friends had Morten all over her room and we used listen to music and do that white girl dance for hours on end LOL

  17. ah ha was one of my 80's favorites. I loved watching the video for Take on Me over and over and over again.

    1. I'm a rebel at heart - I love almost every other song they did before Take on Me. As soon as something becomes popular, I find something else. That's why I linked to other songs :-)

  18. And here I thought I'd be the only one picking singers and musicians.

Awesome choice. Now I'll humming "Take on Me" all day!

  19. Awesome choice. I want to listen to some eighties' music now!

    1. I've got a great 80s compilation - it started off as 1000 songs and I whittled down to my favourite 100 for my MP3 - good times, great tunes!

  20. Hey,

I remember watching Take On Me the very first time at a club and EVERYONE stopping what they were doing to watch it... dancers, waiters, bartenders... it was awesome :)

Sorry to break the news that Senior George is nearly 60 :)

    1. It's one of those videos that still looks cool, as opposed to Dire Straits' Tunnel of Love, which... er... doesn't.

    1. Actually, that's quite understandable - there are some bands today who I wouldn't recognise if they sat down in my kitchen! Enjoy the vids.

  23. I did have a slight thing for Adam Ant - and last year I actually met him for real. He was charming (like a prince!) and gave myself and some colleagues free tickets to his concert.

  24. Okay - I can agree on Morten, I love A-Ha! But my 80's crush, though I never said at the time was Dirk Benedict as Face in The A-Team (still is probably too :D)

    ReplyDelete

    1. The thing I didn't like about Face was he KNEW he was gorgeous. That puts me off. I liked Hannibal!

  25. "His tasteful selection of scarves" ha ha! Way to find a somewhat obscure but very yummy crush. "Take on Me" is still one of my favorite videos.

    1. Not so obscure in UK - they were HUGE over here.

  26. That video of Take on Me when he throws himself at the walls and finally breaks through all sweaty and teary eyed makes me swoon, despite the cheese.

  27. He is almost too handsome for words! I loved the Sun Always Shines on TV but i didn't know any other songs by a ha and I didn't know this guy... my loss!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Aaaah he was so good looking. :-)

    1. It was actually his voice that I truly loved. He had a very slightly lisp because he's Norweigan singing in English, I suppose, but it sounded incredible. But, yeah, so gorgeous too!

  29. I absolutely loved Aha and the Take on Me video is one of my favourites.

  30. I'm more of a 60s Motown girl I'm afraid but if I had to choose a face from the 80s it would have to be Mick Jagger's. Did I mention Mick Jagger hit me across the face once? *sigh* Yes I was chasing him *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You can't just say Mick Jagger hit me in the face, and then disappear. I'd love to know where and when (I can work out the why for myself :-))

  31. I honestly didn't know who this was until I saw the video. Good choice, he was cute!

  32. This is the second time I've seen Morten Harket mentioned and I'm still clueless as to who he is! ;)

George Michael was amazingly good looking.

    1. George never did it for me. I'm excited someone else likes Morten. I haven't got through all the blogs on the list because I'm in bed with vertigo, so my methodical approach went out of the window :-(

  33. I absolutely love the idea for this blogfest and was sad to miss it but i'm enjoying finding the posts! I was just a kid in the 80's so my 'crushes' pretty much topped out at the kid from 'Flight of the Navigator'. LOL Looking forward to your post for the origins blogfest!

    1. Lol - my little boy reminds me of that kid when he's wearing his swimming goggles. My post is ready to go for Origins.
